So many things this week!
Received confirmation of my fellowship to start my PhD year. It’s not a huge sum, but I’m definitely grateful to have it to start off! The great thing about it is how initially others were notified before I got the green light, and a certain amount of faith was needed not to go into panic mode.
I’m also really happy we managed to start the year off with Ultimate Frisbee, and getting together a good mix of ppl who have never played before as well as those returning to the game to congregate in the West to throw a few discs around! Now for basketball!
The message today on fear was God speaking to me:
2 Tim 1:7 – For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid but gives us power, love and self discipline
Rom 8:15 – For you did not receive a spirit of slavery that returns you to fear, but you received the spirit of sonship, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
Fear here (phobos) implies to flee or withdraw due to feelings of inadequacy, often from God’s presence or will
1 John 4:18 – There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
Are we making decisions based on fear, or based on love or hope?
